Interesting segment. I noticed in my Colorado Chamber of Commerce that the least qualified guys - with _____america dressed better than anyone else - they had cufflinks, slicked-back hair and their office was filled with trophies and awards to shout their success, while the local CFP was dressed in khaki's and a sweater.

Is Valentine's Day is different from any other holiday in our make a buck society, which I'm all for. Mothers Day, Cinco De Mayo, Kwanza...honestly, even Super Bowl Sunday is a national holiday, stimulated by sharp marketing minds. I'm for more holidays! I'm for those who choose PajamaGram ,Hallmark and Mary Sue Easter Eggs. And if guilt and/or obligation is attached to the giving then they gotcha right where they want you. The choice to give away your power is yours. And by the way, I prefer white roses.

While I do not care for Valentine's Day celebrations specifically, I do like the sentiment of people going out of their way to demonstrate their affection for others. I thioften think of other people, and I like to show them I'm thinking of them. It means they matter to me. We all need to know we matter to other people. So I often send things - cards, flowers, cookies - whatever inspires me at the time, most any day BUT Valentine's Day.
